Reclaim our Congress
New congressional proposals to address the Citizens United ruling, if they survive court challenges, will not effectively counteract the influence of corporate money. The obvious remedy is HR1826, the Fair Elections Now Act: a voluntary program of citizen-funded elections, limiting donations to $100 per person (including corporate "persons") and supplying matching funds, up to a cap. It's about time for the people to make the investment in elections and get the incredible return on investment that corporations now get from their donations.
